When Women Lift Each Other, the Ceilings Don't Stand a Chance
You never really know how much you need to be around incredible women until you're in a room full of them.
I have been thinking about that a lot since The Luminous Event. Since I watched something happen in that room that I did not fully have words for in the moment but have been trying to describe ever since.
This is my attempt.
What We Are Taught About Other Women
From the time we are young, we are handed a story about other women. That there is not enough room for all of us. That success is a limited resource and we are all competing for the same small piece of it. That another woman's confidence is a threat. That her beauty, her accomplishments, her visibility somehow diminish our own.
We absorb it quietly. In the way we were compared to other girls growing up. In the workplace dynamics that pit women against each other for the one seat at the table they've decided we can have. In the media that frames women as rivals first and allies second. In the subtle ways we have been taught to shrink so that nobody feels uncomfortable with how much space we are taking up.
Most of us do not even realize how deeply we have internalized it until we find ourselves in a room where none of it exists.
And then everything shifts.
What I Saw
The Luminous Event was designed as a gathering for women. Some were Luminous Project clients. Some came because a friend invited them along and they were not entirely sure what they had walked into.
Nobody was performing. Nobody was competing. Nobody was measuring themselves against the woman across the table.
They were just celebrating each other. Cheering for each other. Holding each other up instead of measuring each other up.
I have photographed hundreds of people over 15+ years. I have been in a lot of rooms. That one was different. That one I will carry with me.
Why This Is Rare and Why It Matters
We do not talk enough about how countercultural it is for women to genuinely celebrate each other.
We live in a world that profits from women feeling like they are not enough. Not thin enough, not successful enough, not young enough, not polished enough. And one of the most effective ways to keep women feeling that way is to keep them looking sideways at each other instead of forward together.
When women are busy competing, they are not collaborating. When they are focused on comparison, they are not building. When they are shrinking to make room for someone else's comfort, they are not taking up the space they were meant to occupy.
But when that changes? When women actually get in a room and decide, consciously or not, to show up for each other instead of against each other?
When women lift each other, the ceilings do not stand a chance.
What The Luminous Project Is Really About
I want to tell you what The Luminous Project is on paper, and then I want to tell you what it actually is.
On paper, it is a fully guided portrait session for women. Professional hair and makeup included. Expert posing direction throughout. Same day image selection so you leave knowing exactly what you have. Images that finally show the world who you actually are in this season of your life.
That part is real and it matters. I pour everything I have into every single session. The images we create together are intentional and beautiful and I am proud of every one of them.
But what The Luminous Project actually is, what it has become since I started it, is something bigger than a photography session.
It is an invitation to be seen. Fully and unapologetically seen. Not the version of you that shows up for everyone else. Not the version that has it all together or plays it safe or takes up exactly the right amount of space. The real version. The one that exists underneath all of that.
It is a declaration that you are the occasion. Not the milestone you are waiting to hit. Not the goal you have not reached yet. Not the version of yourself you are still working toward. You, right now, as you are, in this exact season, are worth celebrating.
And when you book The Luminous Project, your ticket to The Luminous Event is included. Because the session is yours. But the room? The room is something you experience together.
An Invitation
If you have been thinking about The Luminous Project and looking for a reason to finally say yes, let this be it.
Not the photos… although those are going to be incredible. Not the hair and makeup, although you are going to feel like yourself but elevated in the best possible way. Not even the session itself, although I promise you will leave feeling more seen than you have in a long time.
Say yes because of the room.
Say yes because you deserve to spend an evening surrounded by women who are cheering for you. Who are not measuring you against themselves. Who are not waiting for you to shrink so they can feel bigger. Who are just there, fully and genuinely, celebrating you and being celebrated right back.
We spend so much of our lives being pitted against each other. Compared. Ranked. Made to feel like another woman's light somehow dims our own.
The Luminous Event is the antidote to all of that.
The 2026 season of The Luminous Project is open and filling up. Your session. Your images. Your hair and makeup. And your seat at that table.
Come be in the room.
